Direct Current (DC) critical power systems optimize power paths similar to alternating current (AC) designs. However the DC designs are more modular, come in larger electrical sizing per block, and require simpler controls to  parallel with other DC devices. This allows DC to scale more efficiently for larger data centers.  The Validus DC system mimic the reliability of telecommunications power systems yet have the scalability of state of the art AC power systems.

DC power systems connect very easily to DC stored energy such as batteries, flywheels, solar systems, or any other DC power storage systems without an electronic interfaces. This coupled with the no transformations and one rectification from the utility,  leads to the use of  less equipment in the DC critical power path.
